Rostock-Laage Airport - Not just the biggest training base in Germany

The Rostock-Laage Airport (RLG) is the biggest and busiest airport in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Since 1993, the former exclusive military airfield offers a joint use in civil aviation that has growing charter and scheduled network carrier flights.

The regional airport functions as an entry gate for incoming tourism to the popular vacation resorts of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The connection from/to Munich with Lufthansa as well the connections from/to Cologne and Stuttgart with Germanwings enjoy growing popularity from tourists and business travellers looking for recreation at the Baltic Sea in Germany.

Next to this core business, RLG is emerging as the primary training airbase in Germany, due to its superior operational advantages, ideal training criteria and environment. More than 200 student pilots are trained each year to become airline pilots or type-rated on narrow body A/C. There are several training courses offered in the areas of aviation security, air cargo security, dangerous goods regulation and airport operations.

The 24-hour operation, an available take-off distance of 3,334m and a modern instrument landing system (ILS) enable cargo airplanes up to the size of a Jumbo Jet to use Rostock Airport around the clock. A freight terminal with a size of 3,200m2 and its handling, warehouse and maintenance areas provide ideal logistic conditions for air cargo customers.

Rostock Airport has become a significant economic growth factor and a creator for jobs in its region. The enormous available space around Rostock Airport also provides suitable expansion possibilities to attract additional business startups and companies.
