The partial government shutdown in the United States continues to result in Transport Security Administration (TSA) officials staying away from work as they go unpaid, with many employees citing financial constraints as the reason. The TSA reports that on the 22 January unscheduled absences were at a rate of 7.4%, compared to 3.2% on the same week day in 2018. However, TSA figures show that 99.9% of passengers waited for less than half an hour at security.
