Five design proposals from global architecture firms for the expansion of Chicago O’Hare airport have been revealed. The public were given one week – up to the 23 January – to view the designs and provide feedback, while exhibits on the designs will remain on display at the airport’s Terminal 2 and at the Chicago Architecture Center, where architectural models can be viewed, until the end of January.
“The Chicago Architecture Center is proud to host the designs that will set the trajectory of O'Hare for years to come,” said Chicago Architecture Center president and CEO Lynn Osmond. “All Chicagoans have a stake in O’Hare, as a vital economic engine and an exciting gateway to our city – a place where iconic architecture reflects Chicago’s rich legacy of design innovation..”
The firms competing are Fentress-EXP-Brook-Garza Joint Venture Partners, Foster Epstein Moreno Joint Venture Partners, Santiago Calatrava LLC, Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill (SOM), and Studio ORD Joint Venture Partners.
