15 January 2019

The partial government shutdown in the United States continues to result in TSA officials calling in sick as they go unpaid. On the 13 January the TSA’s assistant administrator for public affairs, Michael Bilello, reported a national rate of 7.7% unscheduled absences – an increase of 4.5% on the rate experienced a year ago. The TSA continues to emphasise that airport security will not be compromised.
