Bidding will open in October for the operating rights to the New Kansai International Airport, in Osaka, Japan, after the government approved plans to sell to the private sector.

Offered together with the rights for the smaller sized Osaka International Airport (Itami Airport), the 45-year license, is expected to exceed two trillion yen at sale.

Foreign and domestic bidders can apply and after a selection process the winner will be announced next year. New Kansai International is Japan’s fifth largest airport and is the main hub that services the heavily populated Kansai region.
