Trax installed at the new King Abdulaziz International airport in Jeddah

Monday, August 06, 2018 by OMK

Jeddah's new King Abdulaziz International airport opened to the public in May 2018. KAIA chose OMK to supply 15,000 of their Trax seating system.

Being an important Hajj destination, the airport has been designed to accommodate more than 80 million passengers annually. The General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) commissioned OMK to develop a moulded polyurethane version of their Trax High Back model, which carries a 25 year guarantee. This is a testimonial to the longevity of TRAX, which is currently in use in over 200 airports worldwide.

About the Project

The new King Abdulaziz International airport three-stage development started in 2006. The project is designed to increase the airport's yearly capacity from 13 million to 80 million passengers.

The head of GACA, Abdul Hakim al-Tamimi, said that the KAIA was a mega project as it "includes 810,000 square metres of terminals, 200 counters designed for completion of travel procedures and 80 self-service counters as well."
