Sochi International Airport accommodates cargo flights with equipment and Formula 1 racing cars

Sochi International Airport announces the maintenance of cargo flights with equipment and cars for the Russian stage of the Formula 1 race. The airport accepts special flights of the largest international competition for the fifth time.

On 21 September, the first AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) cargo flight arrived at Sochi International Airport, where racing cars and equipment for the fifth Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix were delivered.

The charter flight on the route "Singapore-Sochi" arrived at the Sochi airport at 03:25 local time; the Boeing 744 aircraft carried a cargo weighing about 122 tons.

Over the next few days, from 18-26 September, Sochi International Airport will take another seven cargo flights: AirBridgeCargo Airlines, Silkway West Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways. The Boeing 744 and the A332 aircrafts will deliver the equipment to the Formula 1 race, teams that include the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team, Scuderia Ferrari, Williams Martini Racing, Red Bull Racing, Sahara Force India F1 Team, Scuderia Toro Rosso, McLaren Honda F1 Team and others. All cars, chassis and details of racing cars are packed in special containers.

This was the first time that Sochi International Airport has received the equipment and cars for the Russian Grand Prix since 2014. Back then, the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Russia 2018 was be held from 27 to 30 September in the Sochi Avtodrome.
