Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) U.K.-based air traffic management (ATM) subsidiary, Park Air Systems, earlier this year was awarded a contract by the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) to supply Golubovci Airbase in Podgorica, Montenegro, with a new communication system.

The Park Air M7 VHF/UHF radio, brings high levels of performance, resilience and flexibility into a compact unit for defence applications. A range of receivers and transceivers are available, each covering the full VHF/UHF frequency range with AM and FM waveforms for fixed, naval and transportable applications. Electronic protection measures are available including NATO and non-NATO waveforms, while wideband interfaces support a range of crypto devices and tactical data links.

The system functionality is combined into a single compact package which is designed to be easy to operate and maintain. The system will support Montenegro Armed Forces and meet all NATO standards.

"Our ability to meet the tender criteria by providing the highest quality radio and after sales support has meant that Park Air could offer the ideal partnership for this important programme," said Danny Milligan, managing director, Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems. "The tender from NCIA was based on full compliance of the equipment to stringent international standards. The Park Air M7 is a tried and tested military radio used by many defence forces around the world."

The new ATM communications system completed installation in late 2017 and is now in operation.

Northrop Grumman's Park Air Systems supplies communication systems for airspace operations worldwide. Its radios can be found in airports in 180 countries around the world.
